New Posters for JAWBREAKER, BAND OF HORSES, and AMOS LEE
Three brand new posters will be in my store Wednesday, October 18th
Hello! I hope this message finds you well. This Wednesday, I will be adding three new posters to my store: recent work for JAWBREAKER, AMOS LEE, and BAND OF HORSES. Let us now briefly discuss these posters in that order. Scroll on for some details and on sale info for each print.
First up: Jawbreaker!
Jawbreaker has been a favorite band of mine since I was a teenager. When I first got into punk rock and other kinds of underground music, there was a lot of lore around the defunct Jawbreaker. I never imagined I’d ever get a chance to see them play live, so it was really incredible to see them reunite in 2017 at Riot Fest in Chicago (and other various times I’ve since seen them play). Getting to do this poster was a bit of a bucket list item, so it’s kind of a special one for me.
This illustration is based loosely on the back cover of their debut album Unfun. The front cover famously features a cat, but the back cover has a photo of the band’s name spray painted in an empty pool. I imagined what the rest of the scene might look like, added a few cats for good measure, and hid little Jawbreaker easter eggs on the train cars—including a tiny sketch of the legendary BUSY/EQUALIZED 7”.

I’m really happy with how these Amos Lee posters turned out. I tried something a little different with the way I approached the color separations and was very pleased with the results.
Amos Lee has described his music as a bridge to reach others. I really liked that idea, so I came up with this little river scene. I approached the foliage with same techniques I started refining while rendering the Jawbreaker poster when I was drawing both of these back in August.

Band of Horses played in Chicago this past Friday, and I was tasked with designing the poster. I based this illustration on the lyrics to the song “Lights” of their most recent album. This song is in part about running from the police, so I decided to work up this little suburban scene with a trio of friends running/climbing a fence, with the implication that the police are in hot pursuit.
